Quiet Confidence Doesn’t Mean I Need To Be Small
“Stillness was the medicine my body needed. Quiet doesn’t mean empty — it means wise.”
What Quiet Confidence Really Means
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on what confidence really means — not the loud, showy kind the world often rewards, but the kind that moves quietly through you.
The kind that doesn’t need to announce itself, because it simply is.
During a recent somatic breathwork session led by my friend Theresa from Winds of the West, I came in with one clear intention: confidence.
Usually, when I do breathwork, my body moves a lot — shaking, releasing, getting energy to flow.
But this time was different. My body stayed still from the neck down.
The release came through sound — through voice, jaw movement, and breath.
It felt as though my body already knew what needed to move, and this time, stillness was the medicine.
Releasing Resistance
At the beginning, my focus was on releasing — and for me, that meant letting go of resistance.
Specifically, resistance to structure.
I’ve been resisting creating a schedule for myself.
I know I need one.
But part of me fears that structure will box me in — that it will take away my flow, my freedom, my creativity.
But in that breathwork session, something shifted.
I realized I could release the resistance and instead explore what structure might give me — clarity, focus, and confidence.
Because here’s the truth: I’m a professional woman.
I spent 24 years in the military.
I hold multiple certifications in nutrition, wellness, coaching, and cheffing.
I’ve built a life around helping others find focus, discipline, and joy.
So why would I doubt my ability to create a schedule that honors both freedom and flow?
The Moment It Landed
As the session deepened, a phrase rose up so clearly in my mind it stopped me mid-breath:
“I am quietly confident.”
That landed hard.
For so long, I’ve been surrounded by people who perform their confidence — louder voices, bigger energy, constant proving.
And in that noise, I sometimes felt small.
But today, I realized — I am not small.
Quiet confidence doesn’t mean shrinking.
It means knowing who you are so deeply that you don’t have to prove it.
Rooted in Truth, Not Performance
I don’t need to boast or create from comparison.
I can create from truth — from the insights I’ve earned, the wisdom I’ve embodied, and the experiences I’ve guided my clients through.
Quiet confidence is the knowing that I am already successful — not just in business, but in the way I live, lead, and love.
It’s the kind of success that doesn’t need to shout.
It simply breathes, expands, and takes up space.
That realization was freeing — ironically less restrictive.
Because in choosing quiet confidence, I no longer have to fit into someone else’s idea of success.
The True Freedom in Confidence
When we stop trying to live according to society’s version of “what health looks like” or “what success requires,” we finally begin creating lives that feel good — lives aligned with our energy, our joy, and our values.
And in that alignment, we discover what true confidence really is: not loud, not forced, but deeply rooted.
A quiet confidence that doesn’t make us small — it makes us whole.
Coaching Reflection
If you’ve been resisting structure because it feels confining, or holding back your confidence because you fear being “too much” or “not enough” — I invite you to pause and breathe.
What if your grounded, quiet presence is exactly what your world needs?
What if flow and structure could exist together — not as opposites, but as partners?
That’s the space I help my clients explore — the one where confidence meets calm, and success feels like you.
“Quiet confidence doesn’t whisper because it’s weak — it whispers because it’s sure.”
